Intermediate Program Accreditation

The Virginia Office of EMS promulgated regulations on January 15, 2003 which require that all training programs which lead to an initial certification at the Intermediate level be accredited.

Initial accreditation for Intermediate training institutions is coordinated and administered through the Office of EMS.  Programs seeking to offer training at the Intermediate level must complete an Institutional Self Study for Intermediate Programs in Virginia.  This document can be downloaded below.

Initial grants of accreditation at the Intermediate level are for a maximum of five (5) years—typically a one year ‘provisional accreditation’ is granted to new programs pending a follow-up review.  After the initial five year grant, all Intermediate programs must apply for reaccreditation of their program.
