WASP WWS650 Scanner Troubleshooting

The Office of EMS secured new WASP wireless barcode scanners for all certified Education Coordinators in Virginia to assist with our transition to QR codes on certification cards, letters and reports generated in the Virginia EMS Portal.

Some individuals have reported issues with these new scanners to include:

  • scanner not being recognized by the computer/laptop to which it is attached;
  • scanner device flashing lights, but there is no sound and it does not read barcodes;
  • scanner device only displays a green light on the top, no sound and it does not read barcodes.

  3. Wait for the scanner wand to make one long and then three short descending tones.
  4. To link the handheld and the base,  dock the handheld into the base and wait for three short ascending tones.
