HMERT Member is the first in a series of courses aimed at preparing an individual to serve as a member of a Disaster Task Force or Strike Team. On completion of this course the student will be able to define a disaster and describe how the system responds to disastrous events, list the components of a Task Force, identify appropriate mission assignments for a Task Force, and list basic standards.
HMERT Leader is the second in a series of courses designed to prepare an individual to serve as a member, and leader, of a Disaster Task Force. Students will be able to alert and mobilize a Task Force, receive emergency medical service mission tasking, manage Task Force emergency operations, use available communications to coordinate operations, arrange logistics support, and ensure safety and accountability.
