Virginia EMS Interstate Compact (REPLICA)
Licensed EMS clinicians from other Compact member states may exercise a Privilege to Practice in Virginia when they are affiliated with a Virginia-licensed EMS agency or ambulance service. The Privilege to Practice allows qualified clinicians to perform their EMS duties in Virginia under their home state license without the need for separate Virginia licensure, as long as they maintain current licensure in their home state and agency affiliation in Virginia. Our office encourages any EMS clinicians that make Virginia your permanent home to apply for a Virginia EMS license.
The United States EMS Compact is established in Virginia law under § 32.1-371. Recognition of Emergency Medical Services Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact.
