Trauma Patient Hypothermia

This visualization was developed in November 2025 for the Virginia EMS Advisory Board’s Medical Direction and Trauma Governance Committees as part of a statewide Performance Improvement initiative focused on evaluating and enhancing prehospital warming practices.

Key finding: ~20% of major trauma patients transported by ground and air EMS were hypothermic.
Early temperature management represents a statewide opportunity for improvement.
